Ghost of Joseph McCarthy Past

(A Present For The Future)

Everyone join with me
working according to almighty greed
the elitist dictators be they commies, mommies,

unprecedented presidents,
the obvious stared in my face,
a hint when she called him “Putin’s Puppet”

the most elite of the commies,
not needing help except mentally
a brutal leader stumping bully legislators

I’m starting to believe
Joseph McCarthy needs to be on top
and Paul Ryan back there, then, and timing is blind,

and Wisconsin
isn’t everything
neither is location
shlemiel, schlemazel
Orwell couldn’t live well
and so he died
for our bombshells
lady Marlene, Lombard,
Jean Harlow, Lana,
and Lollobrigida
sung by Woody Guthrie
Harry Belafonte,
and the Big Bopper speaking,

Hello Tail Gunner Joe,
can we borrow you
back and forth in time,
to save our country now
set an example to old Fred Trump,
the dead Beat Daddy’s
little boy growing up.
Where have you gone,
Joseph McCarthy
for we need you
back and forth this time
to stop the sins of the son
sang Woody so cosmically…

If there’s a union against labor camps,
espionage be they KGB, FBI, online
better red than dead,

“Were you a member of the communist party?”
That’s your Russian friend’s story?
oh yeah—huge in hiding sight.

The elitists of communists need this
rain of sympathy feigned by his brain
for information domination

You huge ghost of anti-communism past,
Come stand on your shoulders
become a giant that can last.

Icicles Melt

No snow, there’s no way,
so have a nice day
and keep on dreaming,
my icicles have melted.

Will we ever be warm enough
to finally keep some love?
Early man knew the jungle
and had power over the world.

And modern man’s got the jungle
putting big ones in the zoo.
When you’re big you get a place.
But when you’re small escape to the street.

No snow, there’s no way.
No trouble, it’s melted away—
Hay! Hot! Yay, thanks a lot
for the cycle!
—it’s the cycle of staying alive.
For as long as icicles melt
I’ll survive! You’ll get by!
—icicles melt!

Will we ever be warm enough
to finally keep some love?
Early man didn’t have a wallet
but rewarded his work for food with food,
and Modern Man got poverty.

He’s sleeping in the street.
It’s a walking freezing crime
no matter what, in modern time.

We were strong enough
and damned if we still are.
We built the future as a present
to our children’s children’s children’s children so our kids’ll have it better enough to teach their children’s
children to make it through— baby,
Icicles Melt!

 Love at Versailles

Bonjour dear soul, I understand
there comes a time when your leader’s
not the people’s friend.
Decide what’s a real conflict,
and then become your neighbor’s friend
Connect

Mesdames et messieurs,
Never follow a leader,
that says you can’t follow love
Your loving at the first site insights our lives
like making love at Versailles

Battling is blood, sweat, tears
As people we band together
and move forward
No more tyrannical power
we hold our own with our voices heard
by Us
You have a Bastille
in a symbolic sense
we love the writers
that displease the government
that demands you can’t follow love.
our loving at first site insights lives!
that's making love at Versailles

“Silent gratitude isn’t very much use to anyone.”

-Gertrude Stein

Thank you to all my friends, neighbors, countrymen, animals, inhabitants of the universe, my clients.

Grateful to have so much support as a writer with two books (COMMON SENSE CONSULTING an e-book and my poetry book,THE LEIGHTON EXPLOSION, which is selling surprisingly well--beyond the #crowdfunding campaign.) I'm signing with a booking agent for my poetry; he sought me out. I can control how often I tour, as well, and am looking at June - July 2017 to start.

Thank you, friends, that worked on our power pop Christmas single, GOT MY EYE ON YOU, SANTA, which is getting airplay on military radio.

Jody Quine & the Big Mr. C’s GOT MY EYE ON YOU, SANTA’s credits are listed on the song’s Soundcloud page. Mr. C is Dan Berggren, a veteran and my radio teacher from college; he’s now a folk singer/songwriter, this weekend, performing SONG OF THE WOLF with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra right before Thanksgiving.) If you’re connected with the armed forces and media, join our SANTA party.

I love all my artists, especially Ian Anderson, Joe Deninzon, John Hall, King Llama, Grand Funk Railroad, Gary Lucas, and my sister-in-spirit Ms. Phoebe Legere. In 2017 I’m working with guitarists Jeremy Bar-Illan and Allan Holdsworth. Stay tuned for info about a very special date in New York City with keyboardist Patrick Moraz happening real soon.

Thank you to so many people for believing in me. A lot of people didn’t, and while that caused heartbreak, I know that manifesting love creates, conquers, and heals so much. Thank you to my friends.

My biggest wish is to reach across the different aisles, and improve people’s compassion, as well as finding ways to nurture our environment back to sanity. Mother Earth is in trouble, and I am thankful to everyone that listens to one another so we can have thoughtful dialog.

Listen to people that hurt so much that they need an understanding friend to sit with them and help them. Please never rely on cliche’ ways to bury anyone’s feelings under rugs, crawlspaces, or where ever Jimmy Hoffa rests, perhaps in peace.

#Thankful, #Gratitude, #Peace In!

Carly, Beloved Free Woman

Sometimes when it's late at night
I turn off my lights
and sneak into my room like a spy.

Fertile games stop my crying
and making me
mourn morning to morning
in between every day
except when I’m not.

If we burn for self-proclaimed chosen
we’d die as they ascend.
No! Never bow before them!

their crazy behaviors
aren’t we
mourning morning to morn
in between every day
except when we're not!

Amiga, you and me both
be we stunned or sprouting
fools into songs, prayers, poems
which is more lucky for us
knowing this song is about you
and me.

The Power of Bringing It Up

for Ian and the Animals

The phone rang, and I sang
requesting an answer of caring,
“give me some credit,
put me in your heart and head,
could you show me some respect?”

The person on the other end
texted back judgment,
“you’re just all needy,”
and then more sentences
that entice monster-size fences

I just want to mend this
make us manifest the best
of what we express.

If I spoke with an animal hater,
someone stomping on cats
it’s all howling and spraying
mean “peeps” plotting attacks
instead of how cats make us relax

Would he turn his anger around
let us feel comforting sounds
like a whisper of a purrrrr
Cats can create friendships for sure
cuddling love as the conquerer.

I just want to mend this
make us manifest the best
of what we express.

To be deliberately
against progressing
stops life from being good
Do we shame more than we should?
Criticize not exhort?

Lift me up,
so what I screw up when I speak up,
but look at what I’ve brought up
I’m just hoping you wake up.
don’t bring it down.
